What is Kyoto?
You might have heard the word of "Kyoto". Yes, In 1997 it had the international conference for preventing global warming, "The 3rd Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change"(COP3) and was adopted so we called "Kyoto Procotol". Japan,EU countries and so on have been trying to keep the procotol and have been trying to keep global environment.
Kyoto is also the biggest city for domestic and foreign tourists.
About 50millions tourists visit and enjoy here, Kyoto.
Kyoto has quite old history. it was built in 794 by Kanmu-tenno(the Kanmu
Emperor). After the city was built, it had been capital city of Japan until
it was moved to Tokyo in 1869. It means that Kyoto had been center of
Japan for about 1000years.
All things and people was attracted to the city of Kyoto in those days.
You could see the most prominet and sophisticated culture of Japan in
Kyoto. Ofcourse, you can see lots of part of the culture in present Kyoto.
Almost of them are kept as cultural assets. Not only Japanese tea, Chirimen andKyo-yaki(Kiyomizu-yaki)
we carry, but dyeing, weaving, lacquer wares, sensu(handy fan),fusuma,
origianal vegitables in Kyoto so we called "Kyo-yasai" and Kyoto-cuisine using the kyo-yasai
etc....but also have been inherited and all are still vivid and developing more and more.
Traditional festivals that have been having since several centuries ago and beautiful
great scenery in every four seasons are also so attractive
for tourists.
The city of Kyoto and the suburb was designated as world heritage in 1994.
It takes only about 2 hours and 15minutes by Shinkansen from Tokyo. You can visit the native place of Japanese culture in such a short time. Why don't you visit Kyoto once and more when you visit Japan!!
